Plan your visit

First-Time Visitor Guide

If you have never been, the simplest approach is to pick one anchor — a meal, an event, or an hour of looking at the buildings — and let the rest unfold around it.

Pick an anchor

  • A meal: choose one or two businesses from the directory and confirm they are open.
  • An event: check the official calendar for a market, run club, or film night.
  • The architecture: walk the Boileryard and look for Ford-era and Army-era details.

Leave room to wander

Outdoor seating, public art, and shops reward a slow lap. Weekday daytimes are generally calmer than event evenings — though that is a general pattern, not a guarantee.

Then look beyond the campus

The surrounding neighborhoods have their own character. If you are curious about the area as a place to live, our neighborhood guides are a better starting point than the campus itself.
